Sadly, Brian Revell passed away in November 2004. The business, however, is still family owned and is being steered to greater success by Paul Revell and Brian’s wife Josie.

Link’s was acquired by Brian Revell in 1985 as an existing business; at that time the fleet totalled only eight private hire vehicles and had limited account work. The property consisted of a small office and room for approximately six cars. This business presented Mr Revell with the challenge of consolidation , expansion and seeking new customers, vehicles and equipment... you know, the usual hard slog.

This he did extremely well, with the help of his family - particularly his brother Paul. They rapidly increased the business, utilising insight into their customers’ needs and making sure these were top priority.

 

Along with other family members and loyal staff, Link’s Taxis is looking forward to continuing success and a very bright future. This is hardly surprising, as today’s fleet now totals some 220 vehicles, including 44 hackney carriages as well as 176 private hire vehicles. The fleet is a healthy mix of saloons, estates, minibuses and limousines, and averages around 20,000 bookings a week.

One very popular part of the business are the Lady drivers, who provide an excellent service for women who would otherwise feel vulnerable in a car with a man.

Their Autocab computerised booking and dispatch system has been modified and refined over some time, and can handle data and calls for up to 500 cars, all tracked using satellite technology.

From the customer’s viewpoint, their calls are answered much faster than with the traditional call centre mode, ie. none of this “To hear the ocean, press 1; for tide information, press 2; to locate your nearest lifesaver, press 3" etc. - with the Autocab IVR the caller is dealt with almost immediately. Job done...
